FAQs

I’ve got a position to fill

Using sessions

How do I contact an educator?

You can contact an educator by creating a job and sending it to them. We suggest that you shortlist the educators that seem like the best match first and then contact them in your prefered order.

I can't find the right field of expertise for the job opportunity.

We have used the field for expertise from the Australian government which is similar to that used in the USA and Europe/UK. There are also emerging areas that don't fit neatly into traditional disciplines. We suggest using this ABS page to find your discipline/s and to complement the classification with the tag system we have provided.

I haven't heard back from an educator, what should I do?

People's circumstances change from time to time. You are able to nudge them to respond. Otherwise you may need to contact someone else.

Pricing

Does it cost anything to be a member of sessions?

Sessions is currently free to use. You can create a job and contact as many educators as you like.

Services

I'd like Sessions to vet and shortlist staff for me. Do you do this?

Yes. Please send an enquiry to enquiries@mysessions.co or for a complete education solution contact enquiries@academyed.co, our sister company.

Privacy

I've been contacted about a position. Is it normal for them to want my phone number and details?

Each person that has access to the platform was granted that access by their institution or through our own vetting. Nevertheless, always exercise caution as you would with any online communication. Never give your credit card details or personal information to people unless it is timely and relevant for the job.

Using sessions

What type of educators is Sessions designed for?

Anyone in post-secondary education. This includes vocational, university, corporate trainers and adjuncts and guest speakers.

Does it cost anything to be a member of sessions?

The platform is currently free to use.

I registered my interest in teaching using my work email address instead of my personal email address.

Please email enquiries@mysessions.co and we will change it over for you.

What work rights are needed? Do you sponsor Visas?

You need the right to work in the country that the opportunity is offered e.g. Australia. Individual institutions may offer to sponsor a visa for an ongoing position however it is unlikely for a sessional position.

Do you sell my information?

No. Sessions will not sell your information.

Employment

Can Sessions get me full-time work?

Institutions are able to use Sessions to offer full time work. It is not uncommon for sessional work to become a tenured position.

I registered but I can't see any jobs or heard from anyone.

We are working hard to get as many institutions using the platform as possible. In the meantime, please make sure your details are up to date and complete to help find matches.

Would I be employed by Sessions or the institution?

The institution.

I've been asked for extra documentation. Is that normal?

It is quite common for people looking to hire to ask for a transcript (to see which subjects you personally have studied), teacher evaluations (for feedback on your teaching), and compliance documents like a working with children check. Some institutions have not done this in the past however it is becoming more common as institutions seek to maintain compliance.
